Project Editor

The National Gallery Company Limited (NGC) is a commercial company established to provide revenue for the National Gallery through our retail, publishing, digital sales, venue hire and catering activities. 

National Gallery Publishing’s mission is to encourage readers and visitors to enjoy the National Gallery Collection and to deepen their appreciation and understanding of the tradition of European painting, through our beautiful books. We publish for a wide range of readers, from the general visitor to the scholar, and for all those with an interest in art. Our list includes exhibition catalogues, academic titles, illustrated guides and gift books, and we aspire to the highest standards of research, editing, design and production.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Project Editor to contribute to a small and busy team. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the successful candidate will manage titles from commissioning to publication and beyond. You will have extensive experience of publishing art books, ideally in a museum or gallery context, strong editorial and project management skills, confidence with figures and a keen eye for design. 

Educated to degree level or equivalent in art history or another relevant discipline, you will also have excellent communication and IT skills including proficiency with InDesign and Excel. European language skills such as French, Spanish, Italian or German will be an advantage.
