This vital role is responsible for commissioning and managing new editions and digital content on our successful and fast-moving undergraduate law list, ensuring projects are shaped and developed to meet existing and future market needs, to innovate, and to ensure we are publishing the best possible textbooks and digital content. This role gives you the opportunity to work closely with authors, editorial, sales, marketing, digital, and production colleagues to ensure that projects deliver to specification, within budget and on time. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake market research in preparation for new editions
  • Work with authors to develop high quality content which is appropriate to market need, and which is delivered on time and within budget
  • Prepare manuscripts and digital content for handover into production
  • Prepare high quality materials for marketing and sales colleagues
  • Manage the contractual process for new editions
  • Maintains systems and databases
  • May include project managing and developing first editions once commissioned

There are two roles available: one is a permanent position, the other is a fixed term contract role for a period of 51 weeks.

ABOUT YOU

Essential:

  • possess proven project management, organisational, and prioritisation skills
  • demonstrate meticulous attention to detail
  • possess the ability to proactively manage workload, anticipate and plan for next steps, and be an effective independent worker
  • be persuasive, and demonstrate first-class communication and negotiation skills
  • have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with authors and colleagues
  • be able to demonstrate sound editorial judgement
  • be curious about the external environment, the market, and digital developments
  • be market-focused and have sharp commercial acumen
  • degree educated

Desirable:

  • project management of educational content
  • experience of undertaking market research
