Global Academic publishes books, journals and digital resources for the research, professional and higher education markets.
This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact in humanities research publishing by joining OUP’s leading humanities journals list as a Publisher on a 28-hours-per-week contract, starting in early July.
We are looking for an experienced journals publisher with a proven track record of managing a journals list, preferably in the humanities.
You will be responsible for managing a list of humanities journals, successfully publishing them within budget, maintaining excellent relationships with the academic editors and scholarly societies associated with them, and supporting and driving journal-development plans. Depending on experience, you will also be responsible for launching and acquiring new humanities titles.
You will work with an international range of academic editors and society officers, and in-house colleagues from a wide range of functions.
Please note, this is a fixed term contract of 26 weeks, with the possibility of extension.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have:
- A strong background in journal publishing in a publisher/editorial role, preferably in the humanities
- An understanding of the needs of journal readers, authors, editors, and of journal-owning scholarly societies
- An understanding of the changing scholarly publishing landscape
- A track record of managing and developing journals, preferably high-value society journals
- Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness
We would happily consider applications from internal candidates with overlapping experience in a non-editorial journals role or an editorial role outside of journals.
