Salary dependent on skills and experience. OUP offers a full range of benefits.
Full-time, Permanent
Location: Oxford
Ref: 1355

We believe that the skills you bring to OUP are just a starting point. We want you to have the opportunity to expand your abilities, and innovate and develop in areas which both interest you, and support your aspirations

We are looking for a Senior Development Editor to play a key role within the Assessment team working on new resources across primary and secondary. Ideally you will have experience in educational publishing and of working on assessment materials.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Researching markets and commissioning components, in consultation with the publisher
  • Shaping and editing print and digital materials from manuscript to published resource
  • Liaising with authors, advisors and suppliers
  • Managing projects to schedule and within budget
  • Developing and co-ordinating all aspects of the Assessment list in consultation with, and in support of, the Senior Publisher (including creating product information, drafting contracts and responding to customer and sales team product queries).

If you are keen to work in a creative, collaborative environment to develop innovative assessment resources, we want to hear from you. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is currently a Development Editor and is looking for the next step up, or someone who has a wealth of experience in delivering assessments.

To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated and organized individual who is able to work autonomously and to take direction. You will need to have strong print and digital editorial skills; experience of managing complex multi-component projects to budget and schedule; and great team working and people management skills, including working with authors and suppliers.

We care about work/life balance here at OUP; with this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), and a 35-hour working week, along with the flexibility to start and finish late or early as required. The environment you work in and your wellbeing is really important so we also have a wide range of facilities including: a canteen that serves a wide variety of healthy and delicious meals, a subsidized onsite gym and subsidized coffee shops. Amongst further benefits, our pension contribution is up to 11%.
