Temp Illustrated Book Designer (3 days a week)

If you’re an illustrated book designer looking for a new challenge on a part-time basis we may have the perfect opportunity for you in a maternity cover role in the MJ and General Design team.
 

The role will be a fixed-term contract, 6-12 months, from mid-June, based in-house at our offices at 80 Strand and will be 3 days per week.
 

You’ll work across the illustrated books genre for Michael Joseph and Penguin General, on forthcoming cookbooks for Nadiya Hussain, Amelia Freer and Meera Sodha. You will also get to work on our exciting new illustrated project with Dawn French.
 

To take on this role, we’ll need someone with a solid background designing within commercial illustrated non-fiction titles, including cookery. You’ll lend your knowledge of this market to the role as well as excellent design (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and typographic skills.
 

You’ll have plenty of imagination and drive to do things differently. You’ll bring your new ideas to life and be creatively ambitious with each project.
 

You’ll work closely with the publishing teams so being able to connect with people and communicate well is important. You’ll also be resilient, able to take feedback, but also influence where you need to.
