Production Controller (9-12 month Maternity Cover FTC)

An opportunity has arisen to join the Penguin Random House Children’s Production team as maternity cover to work across a diverse range of products predominantly on the Licensing, Spot and Warne lists.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will be responsible for delivering frontlist licensed publishing with accompanying co-editions, working on a range of colour picture books and board books.  You’ll be responsible for producing ebooks alongside the physical editions and your list may also include a small selection of mono titles.  Special Sales projects across all three lists will be a substantial part of the role, so you will need to be a keen negotiator. 

You’ll be confident and self-motivated, have good technical knowledge and expertise, high commercial awareness, are creative and able to demonstrate passion for your titles.  You are a great communicator - adept at building and maintaining relationships with Sales and Creative colleagues and suppliers alike.  You are used to working on a fast-paced list, ideally with some experience of licensed publishing, and are proficient in managing the challenges this can bring.  A production background working on children’s colour books (ideally including novelty formats) is essential as is a good knowledge of product safety testing.  

You’ll have excellent attention to detail and will be able to demonstrate a calm, positive and flexible approach to your work – even when you’re under pressure. You’ll be a team player but equally happy to work independently on your own initiative. Strong organisational skills are also key.
