(Senior) Commissioning Editor (Non-Fiction), Michael Joseph

Do you often think, ‘is there a book in that?’

Do you instinctively know what makes for a compelling story whether the author is a comedian, a footballer, or a former spy? How to spot the zeitgeist before everyone else does? And is this coupled with a burning desire to turn your ideas into creative visions?

If the answer is yes, then we could have your next step ready and waiting with the non-fiction team of Michael Joseph, who are looking for a motivated, entrepreneurial and creative Senior Commissioning Editor to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months, with opportunity to extend.

Our roster of bestselling authors ranges from big names such as Jamie Oliver, Stephen Fry, Dawn French and Steven Gerrard, to internet-busting vloggers, government departments, former MI5 spies, and cartographers. We’re interested in books that will entertain, educate and enthral, whatever the subject area, and always looking to adapt and expand on our publishing.

So whether you’re a commissioning editor looking for a step up or someone outside of editorial but brimming with ideas, we’d like to hear from you. You would be joining an energetic and collaborative team, working across a range of non-fiction, from health, self-help and lifestyle to memoir, humour, narrative non-fiction, history, popular science and even puzzle books…

Please apply with a CV and covering letter no later than Tuesday 25th July.
