High street bookshops are at the heart of our strategy and this new role is an exciting opportunity to continue to grow our vibrant independent bookshop business and support Waterstones at a local level. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambious sales manager to take on team management responsibilities and work in a creative sales environment.
Responsible for growing a multimillion pound budget you will manage the UK team of 6 field based sales reps and have direct account management of our wholesalers. This role will include create bespoke campaigns for our independant customers as well as working closely with our Events team on author tours.
The position will involve, but is not limited to:
• Delivering the sales budget for the independents and two wholesalers
• Team management and leadership
• Developing and implementing the independent sales strategy
In return, you will be given the opportunity to learn about all aspects of publishing and work with colleagues from each department across Pan
Macmillan.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Sales management experience either of a key account or field based role
• Previous experience of team management including ideally remote workers
• Proven ability to delivering strategic plans in a changing market
• Ability to form strong relationships and communication internally
Above all else you will have a passion for books across all ages and a desire to support bookselling nationally.
Based at our London offices this role will include significant travel as well as events support outside of normal business hours.
