Brand Marketing Manager, Macmillan Children's Books

Digital and Communications

Pan Macmillan UK is one of the largest general book publishers in the UK, with imprints including Macmillan, Mantle, Pan, Picador, Bluebird, Bello, Macmillan Children's Books and Macmillan Digital Audio. Pan Macmillan is part of the worldwide Macmillan Publishing Group. We have recently been awarded Publisher of the Year for the second time in three years.

Macmillan Children’s Books is a division of Pan Macmillan and is one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers, creating great stories for all ages for over 150 years.

Our proactive Communications department is looking for an outstanding Brand Marketing Manager to devise impactful campaigns and drive partnerships for some of our biggest properties. This position sits within our integrated Communications team and is a key role across our organization, reporting to the Communications Director for Macmillan Children’s Books. It is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual.

You will work with the team to build an excellent and respected profile for Macmillan Children’s Books, working closely with the PR team to implement impactful online and offline campaigns. You will have the opportunity to lead the marketing campaigns for our classic and family favourite bestselling brand, The Gruffalo, as well as developing our Dear Zoo brand work. You will be responsible for the marketing for key properties such as Moomin, and for working on the Macmillan heritage brands, such as Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book. Your ability to build strong and trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders and licensing partners will be vital.

You should be a first class marketer, with a proven track record in managing all aspects of successful title marketing campaigns; experience of budgeting, and an ability to lead on the digital strategy is key. A thorough knowledge of the children’s market, either from a book or media licensing background, is essential, and you will be able to approach these established brands with a drive to expand and develop the brands into the future.

You will be creative and strategic with a strong portfolio showcasing previous campaigns, as well as having excellent organizational and project management skills. You will also have exceptional interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills. You will thrive in a pressurized environment and be flexible to the needs of the department. Commitment to a high level of author and illustrator care is essential.

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years’ experience running campaigns, not necessarily within a publishing house. Creative flair, an interest in popular culture, the ability to write outstanding copy and an infectious passion for children’s books is all essential.

The position is based at our offices in King’s Cross, London.

To apply, please submit your named CV and a covering letter confirming your current salary and notice period and quoting reference PAN/012/18 via email to mpilrecruitment@macmillan.com

Closing date: 4th March 2018

All applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK in order to be considered for the vacancy.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the high volume of applications we receive we are unable to respond to everyone. If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date then unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for the position.
