Macmillan Children’s Books is looking to recruit a Senior Designer on a fixed term maternity cover contract to join our dynamic and successful Design team.
The successful candidate will have the amazing opportunity of working on a list that includes some of today’s bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators, including: Julia Donaldson, Rod Campbell, Emily Gravett, Lydia Monks, Chris Riddell and Axel Scheffler. This is a really exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of creative projects.
Key tasks of the role will include but are not limited to:
Designing books, insides and related packaging for the Picture and Gift Books list
Designing and completing concepts, roughs and highly finished visuals
Building close-working relationships with external designers and illustrators.
Commissioning and art-directing illustration, photography and picture research as appropriate to each project.
Known for our quality of content, illustration and design, Macmillan Children’s Books is an energetic and dynamic team publishing the best children’s books for the international marketplace.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of designing and project managing books, marketing and sales material and related packaging for picture books and gift books. The ideal candidate will preferably have a BA(Hons) degree in Graphic Design, or the equivalent professional experience.
This role will be part time, 3 days per week, on a fixed term contract for one year.
The position is based at our offices in King’s Cross, London moving to stunning new offices in Farringdon by the end of the year.
