Senior Rights Manager

Pan Macmillan UK is one of the largest general book publishers in the UK, with imprints including Macmillan, Mantle, Pan, Picador, Bluebird, Bello, Macmillan Children's Books and Macmillan Digital Audio. Pan Macmillan is part of the worldwide Macmillan Publishing Group. We have recently been awarded Publisher of the Year for the second time in three years.

The Adult Rights department handles subsidiary rights across the fiction and non-fiction imprints of Macmillan, Pan, Picador, Bluebird, Sidgwick & Jackson and Boxtree.

We are looking to appoint a talented, tenacious and creative person, with a keen commercial eye, who is ready to take the next step in their career by joining a leading rights team and developing their skills as a Senior Rights Manager.  We are looking for someone who will thrive in a busy rights department and be able to work effectively independently and within the team.  They must be well-organised, have extensive rights experience, excellent interpersonal skills and be able to prioritise tasks efficiently.

The key tasks of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

  • The direct sale of translation rights in the major territories, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia
  • Managing rights sales, through co-agents, in the Far East and Brazil
  • Supporting and collaborating with the Rights Executive to drive translation sales in all other territories
  • The sale of co-editions in North America and all translation territories

 
Skills and Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience of selling rights within a publishing or agency environment
  • Outstanding communication, sales and negotiating skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Organised and able to collaborate efficiently with internal colleagues, as well as publishers, authors, and agents, in a busy and exacting environment.

The position is based at our offices in King’s Cross, London.
