Pan Macmillan UK is one of the largest general book publishers in the UK and is part of the worldwide Macmillan Publishing Group, which operates in over 70 countries. We publish bestselling authors across all imprints, including Julia Donaldson, Ken Follett, Russell Brand and Danielle Steel.
The International Sales team, Exclusive Markets, works with affiliates and sister companies in North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India. The Exclusive Markets group is part of a wider international team who sell the list into various territories across the globe.
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Sales Manager to sell our list into Canada, South Africa and India for a fixed term contract of 10 months. This manager will be the primary contact for these important territories, managing the day to day relationship across all three. The role reports into the International Sales Director, Exclusive Markets, and will be responsible for executing a successful strategy within those regions, driving sales on both frontlist and backlist across all imprints in both print and digital. This job will involve collaborating with the respective local teams, agreeing on targets and priorities, while helping to coordinate marketing and publicity plans.
There is also a significant internal function within this role, supporting the Director with the Pan Publishing (Fiction, Non-fiction, Mantle) meetings to grow sales of these imprints across the entire international group.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and possess excellent negotiation and presentation skills. Previous sales experience is required as well as knowledge of the publishing industry. Familiarity with trends and opportunities within these markets is a priority.
This is an exciting and dynamic role which is integral to the reputation and ongoing success of the International Sales Team.
The position for a fixed term of 10 months and is based at our offices in King’s Cross, London.
