Publicity Manager, Children’s Books

Digital and Communications

Macmillan Children’s Books is a division of Pan Macmillan and is one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers, creating great stories for all ages for over 150 years.

Our proactive children’s books Communications department is looking for a vibrant Publicity Manager to devise and implement consumer campaigns for titles across the Macmillan Children’s Books list, including Campbell Books and Two Hoots. This PR post sits within our integrated Communications team and is a key role across our organization. It is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual.

You will work with the team to build the best relationships and profile in the industry, through inventive campaigns and have the fantastic opportunity of working with some of today’s bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators, including: Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Lydia Monks, Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Frances Hardinge.

We are looking for a first class and energetic publicist with a proven track record in managing all aspects of successful PR campaigns, who has excellent contacts, experience of title budgeting and exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be creative and strategic with a strong portfolio showcasing previous campaigns, as well as having excellent organizational and project management skills. You need to be flexible and able to work under pressure. Commitment to a high level of author and illustrator care is essential.

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years’ experience running publicity campaigns, not necessarily within a publishing house. Creative flair, an interest in popular culture, the ability to write outstanding copy and an infectious passion for children’s books is all essential.

This role is based in our offices in King’s Cross, London.
