Editorial Coordinator, Penguin General
We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Coordinator to join Penguin General’s busy copy-editorial team. Reporting to the Senior Editorial Manager, you will oversee the progress of offsets, reprints and backlist titles as well as providing general editorial assistance to the rest of the team.
You will supervise the paperback titles for Penguin General (winner of Publisher of the Year Award 2019), which comprises six imprints: Viking, Hamish Hamilton, Fig Tree, Penguin Life, Penguin Business and Penguin Ireland, taking responsibility for delivering titles according to schedule, budget and high standards.
This isn’t an entry-level position: as well as excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, you’ll have experience of working in an editorial environment and a clear understanding of the stages that text passes through in the production process. You’ll work with a number of teams across the business, so you’ll need strong communication and project management skills.
Your daily tasks will include checking proofs and cover materials, booking freelancers, coordinating mailings, updating systems and preparing paperback material for production. You’ll need impeccable spelling and grammar, and proofreading and copy-editing experience would be an advantage.
You’ll also assist three senior members on their titles and will have the opportunity to work on a range of fiction and non-fiction, mono and colour-illustrated titles in a range of formats.
If this sounds like your next role, please apply with a CV and cover letter by 12th November.
