Editorial Director, Portfolio Penguin

Portfolio is seeking a bright, ambitious publisher to shape a new generation of bestselling business books.

We are Penguin Random House’s market-leading business publishing imprint. Since our launch six years ago we’ve become home to some of the world’s finest writers, leaders and brands. From original thinkers like Simon Sinek (Start With Why) and Eric Ries (The Lean Startup) to entrepreneurs like #Girlboss Sophia Amoruso and BrewDog’s James Watt, to leaders of brands like Tough Mudder and Reed. We publish stories, ideas and advice for a much wider audience than the traditional business reader, across print, digital and audio. We’ve achieved extraordinary growth by being entrepreneurial and commercially-minded. You will drive that success, lead the editorial team and take the imprint to the next level.

You’re hungry to find the next wave of business, entrepreneurship, leadership, smart thinking and personal development bestsellers. You have experience commissioning ideas and working on projects, and now you want the chance to run a team and drive the success of a startup within the world’s largest publishing group. You may already be in publishing, you could be in the wider media, or you may just feel this role is made for you. Either way, you’re proactive, organised and ambitious. You’ll champion the list externally with authors, agents and the business world, and internally to all departments. In particular you will work closely with the Portfolio Communications team to plan and execute unmisseable campaigns.

You’re not afraid to try new things, and you have a genuine passion for business, inspirational ideas and stories, and our kind of publishing.

If this sounds like you, please apply with your covering letter and CV. In your covering letter, please suggest two ideas for business books (e.g. author and/or subject) with bestselling potential.
