Rights Executive, Penguin Random House Children's (fixed term contract)

Penguin Random House Children’s division are looking for a Rights Executive with specific focus on Italy, Turkey, Greece, Baltics, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Israel and some domestic rights. This role would suit a sales professional with experience in foreign markets, looking for a change or a step up in their career. In this role you’ll be selling rights across all of the Children’s imprints encompassing Ladybird, pre-school, picture books, fiction, and classic brands. You’ll have the chance to sell translation rights and co-editions for established global brands, but also exciting up and coming debut authors and illustrators. 

We’re looking for someone with a successful track record in selling a diverse and exciting list, from high profile authors to novelty preschool and YA fiction. Direct experience of building and driving co-edition printings is essential. Ideally, you will have an existing range of contacts of international publishers and the ability to research and identify prospective new customers. Foreign travel to book fairs and customer visits is required.

The successful candidate will be a strong negotiator, and confident at building and maintaining internal and external relationships.  Part of the role encompasses being a rights team ambassador for publishing projects within the children’s division, and will require strategic ideas to help drive sales. You’ll also need to have a collaborative and positive approach to all aspects of the role. We are a busy sales team - an entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude is essential.

This role is currently based at our offices in the Strand. As part of our company wide office move in Spring – Summer 2020 this role will be moving to our Vauxhall Bridge Road offices in Pimlico.
