Managing Editor - FTC

Are you an experienced and motivated editorial professional with journal publishing experience looking for a different type of challenge? We are recruiting a Managing Editor to join the publishing arm of a highly respected Membership organisation to work on an assigned group of journals.

Reporting to the Publisher, this role will shape and develop the organisation’s journal portfolio, and is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual looking for the next step in their journals publishing career.

Key responsibilities of the role will involve:

• Assisting the Journals Publisher with the journal portfolio development
• Supporting the Publisher with new acquisitions and launches
• Organising Editorial Board meetings
• Develop strong working relationships with Academic Editors and Editorial Boards
• Be the key liaison point for the Editorial & Production Assistants, ensuring systems are up-to-date and handling contracts for newly appointed Board members
• Ensuring effective strategies are in place to promote the journals
• Represent the company at conferences, when required
• Running reports and collating results to be assessed
• Ensure the editorial workflow is operating at maximum efficiency, working closely with the wider journals team

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid experience in managing a list of STM journals
• Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) preferably in a Scientific subject
• Proven knowledge of the publishing process
• Excellent time management skills
• High level of literacy and numeracy, including strong IT skills
• Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus
