Production Controller - Non-Fiction

 

We have a wonderful opportunity to work on a leading and highly successful children’s imprint of high quality non-fiction and illustrated books, including beautiful encyclopaedias.

You will run the production process of a wide range of these non-fiction titles.  Working closely with editorial and design you will have many opportunities to play a key creative role in developing new projects, as well as costing, coordinating co-editions, negotiating prices, specs and schedules with global suppliers.

This is a superb opportunity to develop your existing production skills as responsibilities will involve:

  • Managing the production process, from conception to delivery of an extensive list of non-fiction children’s reprints and front list titles
  • Managing the project costing and scheduling and negotiating prices with suppliers
  • Checking InDesign files and PDFs before they are sent to repro and printers
  • Developing new projects

This role would suit a production professional who has some proven experience in trade or educational books and is looking for the next step, or  someone who is looking for a more diverse and interesting production role with the opportunity to learn new skills and broaden your production knowledge.

The successful person will have:

  • Experience on 4 colour book titles with an understanding of print and repro
  • High level of numeracy
  • Experience of working with printers on a global level
  • Organised with great attention to detail
  • Calm with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • A good level of IT skills
