Production Controller/Senior Production Controller - Children's Books
We have a lovely opportunity for an experienced Production Controller to join the Children's Production team of a highly successful and established trade book publisher. Working on a leading children's list and working closely with designers and editors to deliver a very busy publishing programme, the Production Controller/Senior Production Controller will run the production of a large variety of children's books, including co-editions and back list imprints.
This is a fabulous role for a committed children’s production professional looking for the next step or an opportunity to work with a highly successful list of children’s books, where you will work with the creative and sales teams, be involved in choosing suppliers, negotiating prices and costings.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing the production from conception to delivery of an extensive list of children’s novelty books
- Managing project costings and scheduling, negotiating competitive prices with suppliers
- Checking files in InDesign/Adobe
- Coordinating shipping and delivery
- Chairing production meetings
The successful person will be a highly organised individual with demonstrable and relevant experience in children’s book production and will have a strong understanding of the print and manufacturing processes.
Key Kills/Experience required:
- Significant and relevant experience from a children’s book production background
- Experience with colour repro and print and novelty books placed in the Far East would be desirable
- Experience of using InDesign and Biblio are highly desirable
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and calm under pressure
- Knowledge of European Safety Legislation would be a bonus
