Editorial Manager

About the Role

The successful applicant will manage an efficient and productive in-house editorial team, oversee the quality of all SPCK products (including online material), and ensure effective scheduling of the SPCK and IVP publishing programme.

Key responsibilities below:

•Liaising with commissioning editors, authors, freelance copy-editors, proofreaders and indexers, the Production, Art and Marketing teams

•Overseeing division of work among the House Ed team and freelance copy-editors, proofreaders and indexers

•Assessing handovers from commissioning editors to ensure that all elements of the handover are in place, and paperwork is done correctly, and supplying briefs to freelance copy-editors, proofreaders and indexers

•Overseeing schedules for all elements of our books, to ensure contracts, manuscripts, proofs, briefs etc are kept on track

•Ensuring all copy and data is consistent across all elements of our publishing programme, both print and online.

About You

You must be literate and numerate, able to communicate with all sorts of people, by a range of channels and methods, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential to the role. Ideally you will have around 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Enthusiastic personality and a willingness to learn and adapt to the changing retail landscape.

Essential 

• At least 3 year’s experience in a similar role
• Very good communication skills, both written and spoken English
• Enthusiastic personality, a willingness to learn about our titles and customers, and an understanding of the publishing industry
