Publicity Assistant

Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and is home to best-selling authors and illustrators such as Liz Pichon, Dara O’ Briain, Phillip Pullman, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, as well as market leading brands including The Hunger Games, Captain Underpants and Horrible Histories.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a hugely enthusiastic, organised and can-do individual to join our busy and creative London team as Publicity Assistant.

With a meticulous eye for detail and desire to excel in all areas of the job, you’ll provide responsive publicity support such as: writing and sending out press releases; creating mailing lists; sending information to the media; liaising with festivals, bookshops and schools on events; creating on and off line publicity materials; programming social media; and attending events. You will be integral to team admin and keeping our budget up-to-date. You’ll help to deliver campaigns maximising the impact of media relations and social media capabilities, making the most of every opportunity for our brands and for our authors and illustrators.

You’ll need excellent written and oral communications skills, including good grammar and punctuation. Strong interpersonal skills, face-to-face, on the phone and on email, are a must; you’ll need to liaise with a range of internal and external contacts, and will also be required to cover reception on occasion. We’re looking for someone brimming with positivity, professionalism and bright ideas who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
