Publicity Officer

Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and is home to best-selling authors and illustrators such as Liz Pichon, Dara O’ Briain, Phillip Pullman, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, as well as market leading brands including The Hunger Games, Captain Underpants and Horrible Histories.

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic and organised individual to join our busy and creative London team as a Publicity Officer.

 

You’ll be responsible for helping Scholastic authors, illustrators and brands to shine – reporting to the Senior Publicity Manager, you’ll plan and deliver ambitious publicity campaigns for your titles by identifying effective media strategies, securing media coverage, arranging events and planning promotions with marketing as well as dealing with day-to-day requests and enquiries. You’ll be a supportive and effective deputy to the Senior Publicity Manager aiding lead campaigns. You will be a creative and lateral thinker who is able to identify the best opportunities to drive book sales.

 

In addition to working on allocated books and brands, you’ll also be responsible for our festivals and conferences programme being key liaison with festival directors. You’ll need to be comfortable communicating professionally and effectively with people at all levels and be prepared to respond to any eventuality.

 

This role requires outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will thrive in a fast-paced, flexible and responsive working environment. You’ll already have PR experience as well as buckets of enthusiasm and the desire to excel in all areas.
