Assistant Retail Manager

Shakespeare’s Birthplace Gift and Bookshop.
Full-time, permanent contract.

Shakespeare’s Birthplace in Stratford upon Avon is an iconic literary destination and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for an Assistant Retail Manager to join the team in our flagship shop on Henley Street. Supporting both the Retail Manager and the Books and Publishing Manager, you will be a key member of the retail team as we strive to make our shop a market leader in heritage retail and develop our independent bookshop. Working in a dynamic retail environment, you will be engaging with visitors and customers from around the world.

You will have a passion for retail, experience of working in a supervisory capacity and the ability to motivate a team to drive sales and achieve retail targets. You will also have knowledge of the book trade and experience of bookselling, including merchandising and display. You will be familiar with EPOS and stock management systems and be experienced in cash handling and reconciliation. You will be an enthusiastic and confident communicator with excellent customer service skills.
