Job Profile:

We are looking to recruit a skilled and talented individual with a sharp eye for detail to work alongside the fiction commissioning team to manage a select list of fiction ranging from crime and thrillers to Science Fiction.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Publishing Director, Fiction, and working alongside the editorial team in-house, you will take a complete manuscript through all stages of the editing process as it heads towards the finished copy. You will also coordinate closely with authors, editors, and the production and design departments to ensure that assigned projects  and briefs are delivered within deadlines.  You will brief designers and review copy on jackets, and work closely with outside copyeditors and proofreaders to ensure document quality, clarity and consistency following the company style guide and that production deadlines are adhered to.  You will also present titles to the company, and strategically plan,  develop  and oversee clear publication plans for each author.

The Candidate’s Profile: 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, a meticulous eye for detail and an ability to interact at all levels.  Strong IT skills and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, together with excellent ability to project-manage a highly commercial list of titles, is a must for this role. The ability to multi-task, keep a cool head and have a razor-sharp eye is essential.  A knowledge of the general fiction market is key. This is an ideal next step for a Junior Editor looking to take on more responsibility.
