Managing Editor - Economics & Finance Journals

We are looking for a Managing Editor to join our journals business working on the Economics & Finance list. The purpose of this role will be to manage and steer the future development of the list and build relationships with academic editors and learned societies.
 

The key responsibilities:

• Managing and developing a list of journals with support from an Editorial Assistant/Assistant Editor
• Building strong relationships with a global group of academic editors and learned society contacts
• Commissioning new titles and new society contracts under guidance from the Publisher
• Ensuring that existing publishing contracts are renewed
• Overseeing the financial well-being of the list of journals
• Realising opportunities for organic growth
• Preparing financial projections and proposals under guidance from the Publisher
• Working seamlessly with colleagues in Marketing, Production and other departments
• Making presentations at editorial board meetings
• Representing Taylor & Francis at international conferences
• Dealing with telephone calls, correspondence and routine enquiries

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a publishing background who has ideally worked in a journals or books editorial environment
• Possess sound commercial awareness of the academic market
• Display strong communication skills and have the ability to present effectively
• Have excellent organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines
  ​

Subject area knowledge is an advantage but not essential. International travel will also be required.
 

This position is based at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
