Publisher

Taylor & Francis Group, a leading international academic publishing company, are currently looking for an ambitious and motivated Publisher to join a fast-growing, friendly and successful publishing team. The Publisher will steer the future development and evolution of a world leading list of journals in Politics and IR. This is a varied and demanding role which involves managing and mentoring a team of two Managing Editors and two Editorial Assistants.
 

Key responsibilities will be oversight of the existing publishing programme which is heavily based in society relationships. Commissioning and acquiring new products to agreed revenue and profitability target and facilitating, developing and implementing revenue growth across the list. Working closely with Associate Editorial Director on strategic issues and being an ambassador for Taylor & Francis at all times will also be important.
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for achieving agreed annual target level of revenue and profitability
  • Performance management of Managing Editors and Editorial Assistants
  • Commissions, acquires and manages portfolio to an agreed level of revenue and profitability
  • Manages transition of acquired titles and publishes existing programme to agreed plan
  • Develops, articulates and implements a clear plan and vision for the development of the list
  • Motivates individual and team performance to ensure that signings, revenue, profitability and growth targets are met
  • Provides constructive feedback and input to Associate Editorial Director and other colleagues on global publishing strategies, staffing issues, budgetary and financial planning and industry developments
  • Liaises with other departments to achieve timely publication, sales and usage goals
  • Acts as a product champion with internal stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support for the list across other departments

Candidates will have experience in either a journal or books editorial environment. Applicants will need to possess enthusiasm, commercial acumen, flexibility, organisation and the ability to meet deadlines. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as is a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.

This position is based at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
