International Rights Manager

Tate Publishing is a critical part of Tate Enterprises Ltd, the commercial arm of Tate Gallery. We are one of the world’s leading publishers on the visual arts and aim to bring the best new writing on art and the highest quality reproductions to the widest possible range of readers. Our list spans exhibition catalogues, illustrated children’s books and general books about art.

The International Rights Manager is a key position within Tate Publishing, with responsibility for selling rights and co-editions to business partners internationally in order to maximise intellectual properties and profits for Tate Enterprises. You will be responsible for all sales both to trade publishers (adult and children’s) and to museum/gallery publishers worldwide, including managing sub-agents in some territories. The role will involve international travel to key bookfairs.

To be the successful applicant you will be a self-motivated individual with experience in co-edition and rights sales for an illustrated book publisher. You will have proven organisation and time-management skills and first-class communication and negotiation skills. You will have been involved previously in managing the process from negotiation through to delivery and invoicing, and will be adept at liaising with colleagues across Editorial and Production to ensure the smooth-running of co-edition printings. You will also possess a good understanding of copyright law.

You will thrive on working to targets and your commercial acumen will mean that exploiting all opportunities to grow the business comes naturally to you.
Enthusiasm for working as part of a small team is a must for this busy and varied role with a high level of responsibility and independence.

This role will be for a fixed term maternity cover up to 12 months, ideal start date end of April 2019. First interviews will take place 27th-28th March.

If this sounds like your dream role, we’d love you to apply on our website. In addition to a spectacular place of work, we offer great benefits, including discounts in our shops and cafés, Employee Assistance Program, Cycle Scheme and free entry to exhibitions for you and your family and friends.
