Head of Academic Services – HE Service Delivery

One of the world’s largest education services companies is looking for a Head of Academic Services to establish a new Service Delivery team, supporting all parts of the UK HE business, identifying, winning and delivering excellent services and products to support teaching and learning in a blended or online environment.

Reporting into the Director of HE Service Delivery, this role is a new, cross-functional role with particular focus on designing and developing the academic services needed to support HE Institutions as they move to online or blended delivery. The services currently include Curriculum & Learning design, accreditation and validation support for institutions and tutor services. The main responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Head of Partnership Development and Strategic Consultants with business development
• Relationship development with institutions and the negotiation of commercial agreements
• Liaising with the Head of Operations and Lead Learning Designer, to refine the development process for designing, building and producing courses
• Creating and delivering presentations to prospective HEI partners on learning design expertise and approach and contributing to written bids and tenders
• Building and establishing, with world expert designers, a library of winning learning design
• Maintaining brand reputation, attending events, conferences and maintaining a lively publication of papers
• Recruiting and running relevant academic and research boards
• Recruiting Associate Professors to deliver training and thought leadership to HEI partners
• Establishing an effective go-to research community to test ideas for future services
• Primary responsibility for scoping, pre-contract, prototype and proof of concept stages
• Maintaining appropriate quality assurance processes for learning design work
• Ultimate sign-off on pedagogical models employed and design solutions for clients
• Overseeing the establishment of a pool of freelance instructional designers.

To be considered for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate a proven track record of working in an HE Institution, either as part of a team to support academics to deliver online or blended environments or as an academic tutor with strong experience in teaching and learning online. The successful candidate will be educated to Masters level or above in relevant fields of study, with a portfolio of published research. You will have a detailed technical understanding of UK Universities, QAA guidelines, validation processes and professional body accreditation requirements for online learning. You will have solid experience leading and designing solution workshops, externally with clients and internally with matrix teams. Candidates will have exceptional communication, influencing, negotiation and presentation skills and be able to think creatively and strategically while acting operationally. The role also requires a willingness to travel.
