Sales Executive – Maternity Cover (12 month contract)
Thames & Hudson, one of the world’s leading publishers of illustrated books in the creative arts, is looking for an experienced, internationally-minded sales professional to join its busy Export Sales department.
This is a pivotal role which combines face-to-face customer-selling and market-management, with multiple support and organisational responsibilities, and will include the following:
- management responsibility for key accounts in Germany and Switzerland, including national wholesalers, and overall responsibility for sales in Belgium;
- managing relationships with Thames & Hudson’s locally-based representatives in Germany and Scandinavia, providing support and tracking progress; account management of a select group of customers in Scandinavia, including sales trips;
- first point of contact for our exclusive sales and distribution agent in the Netherlands, working with them to deliver sales growth, handling orders, providing information and sales material, assisting with promotional opportunities;
- timely provision of key information and facilities to the wider export sales force.
We are looking for the following qualities and experience:
- excellent sales and presentation skills;
- very good organizational ability, creative flair and crisp communication skills;
- previous experience of publishing or bookselling, at least two years;
- a proven interest in the visual arts and contemporary culture;
- competence in one European language, preferably German;
- familiarity with the European book scene.
