Salary: £22,000 to £25,000 per annum depending on experience

Purpose of job

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role is to assist with and implement art book campaigns, including:

- administration and outreach work to conferences and arts organisations.

- blog posts and social media (WordPress, Instagram, Facebook,Twitter).

- design of marketing materials (adverts, flyers, catalogue).

- assistance with events (launches, conference, author talks).

The appropriate candidate will have good copywriting skills and accuracy, intermediate to advanced InDesign and Photoshop skills, and familiarity with WordPress and social media platforms. Some pre-press knowledge an advantage.

Key tasks

  • Marketing research and communication with outside organisations and authors for key books and campaigns.  
  • Ensuring that all projects pass through the agreed budgeting and schedule procedures and are delivered on time.
  • Marketing content creation for print and digital - including copywriting, flyers, invites, display materials, sales prompts, adverts, email newsletters, blog posts, packshots.
  • Social Media: creating and sharing content as part of consumer campaigns. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with colleagues within the art communications team as well as with other departments to achieve optimum sales and marketing for Yale art books.
  • To work closely with our gallery and publishing partners as well as our US office.
  • Attendance at some book launches and conferences. 
  • Curating website content for Yale University Press London’s main website and micro-sites. 
  • Following events and exhibitions in the art world with an eye to their possible relevance to Yale art books.
  • To perform any other duties from time to time as required by the Head of Marketing.

Person Specification – Key knowledge & skills

Essential:

  • Copywriting skill and attention to detail
  • Ability to create effective marketing materials
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good working knowledge of WordPress or similar
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills at all levels
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to prioritise and excellent time management

Desirable:

  • Previous publishing experience
  • Familiarity with website content management systems
  • Ability to use analytics to identify opportunities and assess performance
  • Awareness of data protection laws
  • Awareness of copyright protocols

The Location:

The role will be based in our offices on Bedford Square in Bloomsbury WC1, with convenient access to the Northern and Central lines as well as many bus routes.
