Askews, founded in 1872 and The Holt Jackson Book Co Ltd in 1932 have independently witnessed fascinating social change, including the rise in literacy, the development of the print and publishing industry and the establishment of public libraries, to cater for the population’s ever-growing appetite for reading and embracement of new technology.
