Account Director

A highly respected independent healthcare publisher is looking for a motivated and experienced Account Director to drive the development of their health business by leading on the delivery of an innovative and profitable service on client accounts and programmes, and be the pivotal operational link between their account directors, clients and internal team processes. Flexible working is offered, but there is also the option to be fully remote.

There are three key areas of responsibility to this role which includes but not limited to:

Client Management:

  • Monitoring newsfeeds for news relating to current clients, products and therapy areas and regularly reviewing their impact upon programmes and client objectives
  • Get to understand the business goals of clients and the organization and seek out strategic opportunities to help expand the business on designated client accounts
  • Provide regular status insights to the client about ongoing programmes

Business Development:

  • Develop bespoke proposals/budgets to provide clients with optimal solutions for programmes to meet communication needs
  • Proactively seek RFPs through in-depth client interactions
  • Cross-selling – networking with the client organization to acquire new programmes outside current spec and upselling: identifying additional activities with existing clients

Programme Management:

  • Ensure regular updates are provided to internal and external teams and to the client
  • Maintain an overview of programme tactics
  • Troubleshoot challenges and identify solutions
  • Attend client off-site meetings/conferences and take the lead on events as required
  • Financial management

To be considered for this varied and highly responsible role, you will have proven experience in a similar role in the medical education/communication/publishing industry, ideally with some international experience e.g., collaborations with non-UK partners (commercial and academic).  You will have a sound knowledge of medical communications, digital publishing/media and ideally pharmaceutical medical/marketing. You will have a solid track record in managing client relationships and achieving organic growth as well as extensive experience of managing clients, Key Opinion Leaders and third-party suppliers.
