Accounting Executive

Do you have experience working in a publishing finance environment? Do you have excellent numeracy skills and are a proactive self-starter? We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Executive to join a leading academic publisher in London! This role is to start ASAP, beginning on a temp contract with the view to go permanent.

Key duties:

  • Accounting for book production including the movement of titles from work in progress to stock and the calculation of stock unit costs
  • Annual royalty accounting and administration
  • Accounting for advances payable to authors
  • Provide assistance to the Finance Director including certain month end process
  • Raising sales invoices for sundry book sales and grants
  • Assist with audit processes and sales reporting
  • Attending production meetings
  • Maintaining and updating the fixed assets register and posting monthly depreciation
  • Posting and reporting payments requested by the New Haven office
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and duties as required by the Finance Director

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience working in a publishing finance environment
  • A logical problem solver with a meticulous eye for detail and a methodical approach
  • Excellent numeracy skills and highly accurate
  • Ability to manage time effectively, using own initiative and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills with a willingness to work flexibly and collaboratively across the organisation
  • Strong communication skills with a professional attitude and desire to grow
  • Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in various accounting software or possession of or working towards a recognised accounting/book keeping qualification is an advantage
