Acquisitions Editor

Are you ready to immerse yourself in History and lead the development of wonderful historical collections? We are looking for an Acquisitions Editor to join the library publishing programme of an international academic publisher of historical primary sources.

We are looking for:

·Passion for History: While not mandatory, a background or deep interest in history or humanities is a huge advantage!

·Content Acquisition experience: this role will focus on obtaining content via licensing agreements with archives, museums, libraries and other cultural institutions

·Editorial Initiative: You should demonstrate the ability to fully own the development life cycle of your products, and champion them from ideation to final publication

·Stakeholder management: Excellent communication abilities are key to thriving in this role

·Attention to Detail: candidates should demonstrate a sharp eye for detail to ensure the quality of products

·Team Player: You'll be working closely with the wider team and other departments so being able to work collaboratively is crucial

·Prior experience in a publishing or historical archive setting is highly desirable

The role:

In this role, you'll oversee the entire lifecycle of digital archive modules, from conception to publication, to support the company's publishing program's financial objectives. Your responsibilities will include researching potential content collections, conducting market analysis for new products, negotiating partnerships, coordinating content conversion, and ensuring compliance with copyright and privacy regulations. Additionally, you'll liaise with Marketing and Sales teams to provide product information and support their efforts in meeting financial goals.

Main responsibilities will include:

·Research, qualify and pursue new product opportunities by liaising with potential institutional partners and other content collections that could be converted into new digital archives and product series. This may require onsite visits at content source institutions to assess original content quality and metadata requirements

·Negotiating new partner agreements for content acquisition

·Put together business cases and financial analysis for new product approval, including P&L and SWOT analysis of competitor products

·Coordinating the product creation and digital conversion of content for publication

·Championing the products you develop and providing key product information to other teams to coordinate sales, marketing and customer engagement efforts
