Head of Accounts
Aitken Alexander Associates is a well-established, independently-owned, leading literary agency based in King’s Cross, London. We negotiate deals and represent writers/manage careers in all media throughout the UK, America and internationally: mainly publishing but also film/TV/stage. We are seeking applicants to take over the running of our busy accounts department when our current head of department leaves. There are two support staff, one of whom focuses on foreign income and the other who assists the current head of department in the day to day checking and processing of payments.
Ideally, the right candidate will be working in an agency accounts department or have experience of publishing or talent management accounting. You will be familiar with Bradbury Phillips software & have a thorough knowledge of royalties, sub-rights and accounting procedures, international tax rules and regulations. You will also be familiar with VAT rules and be used to reporting commission income. Our current head of department also produces monthly management accounting, VAT, and account reconciliations so, preferably, you will be a qualified accountant with experience of Sage as well as good Excel skills and the ability to work independently on the company finances in support of our external company accountant. Payroll is managed externally, but you will oversee this.

Salary: Dependent on experience but guaranteed at £60,000 PA
