Assistant Editor / Development Editor / Senior Dev. Editor

Our client, a top international educational publisher, is looking for two editors to join their ELT publishing division and to work on their ELT materials, under a globally-recognised brand. Depending on skills / experience our client is open to recruiting these roles at Assistant Editor, Development Editor or Senior Development Editor level. They offer an excellent salary and benefits package. The roles will be based remotely full-time initially and then can be hybrid working some time from the company's Hampshire office, and some time from home.

Reporting to the ELT Executive Editor / Commissioning Editor, you will help to make sure ELT projects are produced to specification, time and budget, and will work on all aspects of the development of multi-level, multi-component ELT publishing programmes across both print and digital. You will participate in research and planning with the goal of meeting the needs of the customer and strengthening the company's impact in the marketplace. As an Editor working on British English products in the ELT publishing team, you will have a varied and fascinating role where you'll have the chance to be involved in the development of ELT materials at all stages of the publishing process. Responsibilities might include (amongst others):

  • contributing to conceptualizing new product proposals that support effective teaching and learning
  • editing course components for content at all stages of their development
  • plan, design and conduct market research
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of editorial workflows and processes
  • brief cross-departmental project teams on product concept, target user groups and plans for integration

The ideal candidate for this role will have strong editorial / publishing experience working on ELT content, or solid ELT teaching experience combined with textbook publishing experience; you will be adept at working to deadlines, and have excellent organisation and communication skills. Top notch content and copy editing skills are essential in this role. An ability to speak another language, particularly Asian or European, would be useful but not essential, as would subject matter expertise in literacy-based approaches and/or international curricula such as the International Baccalaureate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on ELT products under a globally recognised brand synonymous with quality and develop a long lasting career in ELT publishing. Get in touch ASAP to find out more!

Closing date: 4th August 2021

For a full description of the role, please send your CV with a brief paragraph outlining your relevant skills.

Closing Date: Early applications may be prioritised.
