Associate Editor

We are looking for an Associate Editor with a biomedical background to commission, edit and project manage a broad range of online resources for healthcare professionals.  This is an exciting and varied role in an expanding digital publishing team at a well-known scientific publisher in central London.  This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced editor from scientific or med comms publishing to work across a broad range of healthcare topics in a digital format.

 

Key duties:

  • Manage allocated therapy areas on the website, including commissioning articles, editing content, maintaining schedules etc.
  • Edit content for an online target audience and update the website using the content management system
  • Curate existing content for specific themes for inclusion on the website
  • Manage editorial boards and attend editorial board meetings and other editorial meetings as required
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, including editorial boards
  • Keep up-to-date on important clinical issues and market trends and apply this to strategic plans for the website
  • Manage freelance editors, designers and medical writers

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in an editorial role within STM/medical publishing or medical communications agency is essential
  • A degree or equivalent in a biomedical subject is essential
  • Good knowledge and understanding of clinical medicine and pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience of online content development and using CMS would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and engage with specialist authors and clients
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritise and meet strict deadlines
  • A proactive, resourceful and adaptable attitude with a creative flair
