Associate Editor - Social Sciences & Business & Economics - Maternity Cover

Are you passionate about developments in the Humanities and Social Sciences and Scholarly publishing?  We have a fantastic maternity cover role for an Associate Editor to contribute to the growth of their two multi-disciplinary peer-reviewed academic research journals in social sciences and business & economics.

This role can be located in the company’s London or Dordrecht offices.

This is a maternity cover role of up to 12 months, where you will be responsible for the development of your journals and will work closely with prospective and existing authors, reviewers and board members, whilst handling the key daily editorial tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities will involve:

• Developing the journals by article and collection solicitation
• Managing the manuscript flow, and the distribution, plus monitoring the review process
• Dealing with correspondence from authors, reviewers and readers
• Engaging with Editorial Boards and managing recruitment
• Supporting and facilitating the transition to the company’s new submission and peer review system
• Monitoring reports on all aspects of editorial process

This is a varied role and is ideal for someone who is looking for the next step, having had some previous relevant journals editorial experience.

The successful person will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have previous publishing experience, using editorial submission systems and working with editorial boards.  You will have an awareness of the HSS (Humanities and Social Science) scholarly landscape and a knowledge of Open Access. Strong proofreading skills are essential as is a sharp eye for detail and a professional approach to engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
