Book Buyer

Oxfordshire, Salary £40k+

We are currently looking for an experienced Book Buyer to join our Buying Team.

Buying and ranging for our globally recognised customer, both UK and internationally requires a solid knowledge of the consumer book market.  We need you to possess a commercial and creative mindset, have excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude.

Role:

This is a key role responsible for building the book ranges we offer to one of our exciting and significant customers that trade in a vibrant , growing channel. Books across all age ranges that reflect our customers members interests is the requirement. You will be responsible for the sales which have a direct impact on the success and profitability of the company. You will be actively involved with senior management plus direct contact with the customers team, as well as representing us to our publishing suppliers. Reports directly to Managing Director.

Key duties:

• Identifying, recommending, and presenting titles for innovative and commercial book ranges
• Inspiring publishers to bring forward the best titles
• Market research to do the same.
• Attending Bookfairs and meeting regularly with publishers
• Delivering fast and effective solutions to customer requests
• Driving the customer and companies’ sales and margin
• Analysing market and customer trends
• Developing exclusive and unique books

Key Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Book expert (Consumer driven)
• Creative with ability to apply practically
• Strong presentational skills
• Confident communicator, both written and orally and fluent in English
• Collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders
• Good understanding of MS Office packages
• Team player
• Willing to organise own workload
• Account management and market research experience
