On our client’s behalf, we manage physical and digital publishing and stage rights and coordinate that activity with other franchise brand and commercial activity in the ‘Wizarding World’ primarily across various Warner Bros. business units.

We represent a broad range of clients internationally, from debut and established writers to broader talent across business, politics, sport and lifestyle. The Agency Team at The Blair Partnership works with our clients to nurture and grow the most imaginative and engaging stories.  Through the management of their intellectual property rights across multiple products, platforms and territories, we help our clients reach new audiences. We use our expertise to find the best homes and partners for our clients’ projects:  be it publishers, TV and film production companies, or merchandising and licensing companies.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The International Publishing team is responsible for licensing translation rights in all TBP clients’ books.   We work closely with the agents to coordinate on strategy for upcoming proposals and manuscripts, across adult fiction and non-fiction titles, and children’s fiction.  We also collaborate with the Brand and Franchise, and Pottermore teams to develop marketing and publication plans for Wizarding World titles internationally.

This role will be an integral part of the International Publishing team, providing administrative support on a day-to-day basis, and supporting on a wide range of publishing projects and different territories.  You will also take full responsibility for translation rights sales and publisher relationship management in your own markets.  The role offers the opportunity for development and taking on further responsibilities according to experience, skills and interests.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Responsibilities

Sales / Account Management

  • Responsible for managing smaller territories on existing and new business
  • Prospecting for new publishing partners and keeping up to date with the latest market trends in your own markets
  • Designing international rights guides and drafting pitch documents
  • Sending regular updates to scouts on all projects and authors
  • Providing a high standard of customer care and support 

Coordination and Support

General Admin

  • Updating our international publishing directory of contacts
  • Support on drafting some translation rights contracts, sending contracts via DocuSign, and keeping track of contracts’ status
  • Posting author copies of books
  • Responsible for collating and tracking translation deals for all authors
  • Supporting the team on key international projects on an ad hoc basis

Book Fairs (subject to authorised travel)

  • Preparing for major international Book Fairs (Frankfurt, Bologna, London) as well as assisting in following up interest in the subsequent weeks
  • Scheduling meetings for the team
  • Managing bookings (meeting tables, flights, hotels, restaurants)
  • Organising additional events
  • Attendance at book fairs

International Marketing and Branding

  • Preparing international marketing guidelines
  • Reviewing and approving translated editions (covers, copyright notices, interiors), marketing plans and other materials from international partners worldwide
  • Managing international content on TBP social media channels

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience in publishing is desired, and an understanding of licensing and translation rights
  • A personable and proactive character and ability to communicate with people at all levels, with a helpful and accommodating approach
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and excellent time-management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a busy team
  • Solution-driven in all aspects of your work
  • Excellent at prioritising heavy workloads, working under pressure and multitasking
  • Aware of the importance of confidentiality
  • Hardworking, driven, can do attitude and willingness to learn
