Digital Marketing Executive

We are looking for a Digital Marketing Executive to join our Digital Marketing & Website team here at Bloomsbury.

Reporting into the Marketing Insights & Systems Manager, this role offers you the chance to develop your digital marketing portfolio with a global company, whose breadth of publishing ranges from academia to Harry Potter.

Experience within the publishing industry is not necessary; if you have the enthusiasm for this core element of digital marketing campaigns, and recognise the value of good quality data, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As the day-to-day marketing administrator of our email marketing platform and CRM system, you will act as the first point of contact for our marketers across the company, and will be key to ensuring that our marketing systems are working smoothly.

You will also be integral to developing a central email marketing strategy that can support individual marketing teams’ cross-channel strategies right across Bloomsbury.

Your role will include:

  • Providing training for the email marketing platform to new starters in the marketing departments, and ensuring marketers are supported and up-to-date with system processes through written guides, recorded video tutorials, and workshops (both in-person and via online video calls).
  • Responding to ad-hoc support queries from marketers, liaising with the Marketing Systems & Insights Manager and external partners where necessary.
  • Supporting our other marketing systems to help ensure they integrate smoothly with the email marketing platform; primarily, these are our CRM system and the Bloomsbury website.
  • Creating and maintaining the email marketing templates for the company’s various brands and imprints.
  • Ownership of Bloomsbury’s direct customer marketing list; working with the Senior Ecommerce & Customer Service Executive to devise campaigns and strategies.
  • Liaising with marketers to develop and implement new campaign marketing initiatives, to help improve their workflows.
  • Promoting and maintaining good data hygiene, using Excel and other platforms and tools to develop and apply initiatives to keep our marketing data tidy.
  • Contributing to new projects as they arise, working with the rest of the website team and other parts of the company.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Proven experience of working within a marketing team, with use of an email marketing platform a key element in that role (Mailchimp desirable).
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce desirable but not essential).
  • A high degree of confidence using Microsoft Excel to handle and manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Experience in analysing marketing campaign performance, in order to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain workflows and processes to colleagues, including senior managers.
  • A good understanding of web-based ecommerce.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a logical, problem-solving approach.
