Tonic is a new imprint dedicated to living.
Like any good tonic, our books will invigorate and refresh. They are bold and ground- breaking, and at the same time they have real heart – a pick-me-up for mind and body. Our authors combine leading expertise in their fields with the empathy that comes from lived experience; and whether they have the expertise of life experience or academic credentials, they’re warm, full of character and relevant to your everyday life.
We are looking for an Editorial Director to commission and publish top-quality and commercially relevant wellbeing books for Tonic. They will have proven experience of commissioning bestsellers and an ability to discover and secure talent ahead of the curve. They will have an instinct for standout authors and breakout books. They will have a strong network of agent and author relationships, and a gift for online research. They will have a deep knowledge of the wellbeing genre and a feel for its future direction, as well as a genuine passion for helping readers think, feel and live better.
Their publishing will have the scope to be broad and span across psychology, nutrition, health, parenting, inspirational thinking and mindfulness, both black-and-white and full colour.
They will bring to the role both strategic thinking and effective communication. They will help establish the Tonic imprint in the wellbeing market and build strong foundations for future growth through relevant and profitable publishing. The right candidate will be a great collaborator, who is able to take direction as well as set it. They will bring energy and forward-thinking to this ambitious and mutually-respectful team, and they will build great relationships across the business.
