Marketing Executive (Student Learning) Bloomsbury Academic Marketing & Publicity

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work within the busy marketing team of a global and award-winning academic publisher, marketing higher education textbooks and resources to university lecturers and students.

Reporting into a Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will work across some of our bestselling product portfolios, including our Study Skills guides and Law textbooks, as well as key textbooks in Education and Linguistics.

Part of the Student Learning marketing team, you will deliver targeted marketing campaigns that result in high quality customer engagement and leads for sales. You will use the full marketing mix, but with a particular focus on email campaigns and working closely with our campus sales team and editorial colleagues to achieve marketing objectives and sales goals.

As part of your work on the Study Skills list, you will take the lead on managing our student resources, including working with our team of student vloggers to grow our YouTube channel, and help to develop our wider student-facing strategy.

This varied role would suit a Marketing Assistant or Marketing Executive who enjoys thinking strategically and analytically as well as getting stuck in to delivering creative tactical marketing campaigns that require strong copywriting skills and an eye for detail and design.

The role

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver impactful, measured, and lead generating marketing campaigns to achieve sales targets
  • Analyse and report on effectiveness of marketing activities and make suggestions for future adjustments
  • Support and communicate with sales colleagues to help us win business, producing resources and presenting at internal conferences
  • With the support of the Marketing Manager, take responsibility for planning and activity on an allocated product list
  • Lead on managing our student resources, including the study skills website and YouTube channel and Twitter, with input into overall strategy
  • Collaborate with our designer to produce on-brand print and online communications to support our trade sales team
  • Create, maintain and manage specific areas of the website – monitoring performance and suggesting optimisations
  • Support on broad Student Learning team initiatives, including managing the textbook newsletter, producing product catalogues and occasional customer services inbox cover
  • Opportunity to take responsibility for wider departmental projects e.g. promotions for sales and awareness days, analysis projects etc.
  • Support the Marketing Manager on top-level strategy and implementation, including involvement in team-wide initiatives and looking out for opportunities to streamline our processes

Knowledge, skills and experience 

 Essential:

  • Experience in delivering successful marketing campaigns
  • Demonstrable copywriting skills and an eye for detail and accuracy
  • An eye for designing engaging customer-facing materials
  • Highly creative and strategic
  • Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills

 Desirable:

  • Experience of working in publishing, education sectors, or related fields
  • Basic design software skills (e.g. Canva, basic Photoshop)
  • Familiar with the social media marketing landscape

Additional information

The role is a full-time permanent position

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are: Wednesday and Thursday.
