Purchase Ledger Assistant

The Opportunity

This role provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Finance team. Working within a high volume and fast-paced team you will be a member of the team responsible for the effective running of the Bloomsbury Publishing Purchase Ledger function.

The role reports into the Accounts Payable Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for a driven, focused and motivated team player to join a dynamic finance team.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Process high volumes of purchase invoices
  • Ensure all invoices are processed accurately and authorised in accordance with agreed limits in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to our weekly objectives
  • Resolving Internal and External Purchase Ledger queries
  • Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Processing staff company credit cards & expenses monthly and promptly.
  • Monthly review of the aged creditor, investigating, and resolving any outstanding issues.
  • Working closely with the Purchase ledger team to streamline, develop and implement efficient and effective processes and procedures. To ensure all processes and procedures documents are kept update.
  • Processing of bi-weekly payment runs.
  • Assisting with the training of new team members.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

Skills and experience required

  • A minimum of one years’ experience in a Purchase Ledger role.
  • Proactive and motivated with the ability to work under own initiative with adherence to tight deadlines and an aptitude for attention to detail, an aptitude for continuous improvement, the ability to work flexibly and excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to nurture and maintain positive working relationships at all levels.

Systems

  • Proficient in excel.
  • Experience in Dimensions and Focal Point desirable.

This is a full time, permanent position with a salary of £23,000

This role is based at our London office, 50 Bedford Square, London, W1B 3DP, on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are: Tuesday and Thursday

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
