Rights Executive (Maternity Cover)

Bloomsbury publishes an exciting list of award winning fiction and general non-fiction covering subjects such as biography, current affairs, popular science, as well as a wide range of illustrated titles in the areas of food and drink, sports and fitness, nautical and natural history.  We are looking for a maternity cover Rights Executive to sell co-editions & translation rights and co-ordinate part of the co-edition liaison covering the Adult and Special Interest lists.  The Rights Executive will play an important role in the rights team and the company.  This would suit a Rights Assistant with good experience looking for a new challenge. 

The role

  • Responsible for the negotiations of co-edition and translation across key territories
  • Manage the rights budget associated with assigned territories
  • Manage reprint negotiations across specific titles
  • Coordinate the co-edition fulfilment for certain allocated printings
  • Draw up contracts and liaise with finance 
  • Attend Book Fairs and Sales trips as required

Knowledge, skills and experience 

  • Co-editions and rights experience working in a similar role 
  • Confidence in communicating and negotiating
  • Team player
  • Excellent organisational skills

Additional information

The role is a full-time temporary (maternity cover) position

Salary Pay Range: £29,000 - £34,000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
