Senior Contracts Executive, Legal

The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc’s Contracts department is looking for a new resourceful and motivated Senior Contracts Executive to join the busy and supportive team.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Contracts Executive looking for their next career move.  You’ll be involved in creating a variety of different types of agreements for authors, editors and series editors, across the Bloomsbury Group in the UK, USA and India with a focus on titles across the Academic, Professional and Special Interest divisions

The role

The role involves wording on offer letters and drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts for content provided across all divisions, working closely with Editorial staff to answer queries and provide contractual supports, liaising and cooperating with departments across the company including Royalties, Rights and Legal, maintaining an accurate record of contracts progress in an efficient manner, working efficiently and collaborate with the other Senior Contracts Executive, provide guidance as needed to the Contracts Executives, supervising the Contracts Assistants  as well as cover the Contracts Manager’s role in the Contracts Manager’s absence.

Knowledge, skills and experience 

  • Knowledge of Biblio
  • A confident and effective communicator in written and verbal media;
  • Excellent in meeting deadlines and communication of potential delays
  • Experience of drafting and reviewing contracts and addenda
  • Foundational knowledge of standard contractual and publishing terms
  • Good understanding of contract law
  • Ability to work independently and provide support for Group Contracts Director and Contracts Managers.
  • Able to challenge the internal stakeholders to ensure that group polices are followed

Additional information

The role is a full-time and permanent position.

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based (Mondays and Wednesdays) / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).
