Book Profiler, Oxfordshire

Are you a great communicator with a passion for academic book publishing?

 

Our client, a leading provider of Information Resources is looking to appoint a confident and capable Publishing Administrator / Profiler to join them based in their Didcot offices. 

 

As a Profiler, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying how appropriate new academic publications are for academic library collections across both print and digital, thus to support the overall approval and new book announcement services.

 

Key Responsibilities include: 

·Review new title academic publications from book-in-hand
·Describe the books in terms of subject and non-subject parameters
·Accurately allocate books and notifications slips through the description process to libraries
·Select significant or core titles from Book Award nominations for academic libraries
·Present an overview and demonstration of the profiling process to libraries and publisher representatives
·Perform original and copy cataloguing as required
·Assist in the training of other Profilers and Sales Managers

The ideal candidate will be Degree qualified or equivalent and will ideally have subject knowledge in one of the following fields: Technical, Medical or Science, or The Humanities. You will have superb communication skills with the ability to communicate articulately both written and verbal. Strong evaluation, analytical and decision making skills are essential. 

 

Experience with bibliography, publishing, academic libraries or higher education would be an advantage as would a working knowledge of a second language.
