The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Associate Agent to work in our busy and growing Children’s Trade division. You will be responsible for ensuring Bright artists are well presented via the website, portfolio sheets, and all external material whilst maintaining and growing business for specific trade artists, globally.

The Role:

  •  Supporting the Managing Agent within Children’s Trade Division
  • Pitching, selling and closing deals across trade, picture book deals and fiction
  • Negotiating Contracts
  • Managing artist’s projects, overseeing schedules and negotiating fees to get the best deal for artists
  • Liaising with Contracts team to ensure the contract is processed in a timely and effective fashion
  • Ensuring our systems are kept up to date with all relevant project information, including publication dates for publication tracker
  • Invoicing regularly, following-up with artists and clients and maintaining key milestones
  • Sharing news of co-editions with Contracts team and artists
  • Creating and managing bespoke portfolios for artists. Curating portfolios by tagging and un-tagging artworks that are not serving client/artist needs
  • Creating and managing UK Trade marketing plan; liaising with Marketing department and following-up leads from marketing analytics
  • Being present on LinkedIn and other social media outlets
  • Keeping up to date with news/activity around awards, accolades, reviews and events – sharing with Marketing and artists as appropriate
  • Creating material for tradeshows – trade portfolio sheets and rights list
  • Attending tradeshows, industry events and client meetings as required, including all relevant follow-up
  • Being a point of contact for artists, ensuring queries and concerns are responded to in a timely and appropriate fashion
  • Reviewing submissions from new artists ahead of Artist Submissions Meeting each month, looking out for new talent
  • Attending Agents Meeting each week, being mindful of opportunities for artists to work across all divisions as appropriate
  • Regularly reviewing sales reports
  • Managing and maintaining our contacts lists
  • Responding to requests from clients and proactively promoting artists

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience negotiating contracts
  • A great eye for good artwork, and experience with giving art direction
  • Computer-literacy and ability to learn new software and systems
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Proofreading and copy-writing

The role is a full time, permanent position. Our offices are based in Clapham Junction, South London, and you will be required to attend meetings and days in the office, so the ability to travel to London is essential. However, this role can also be working from home for the most part, so we are considering applications nationwide.
