The Opportunity

We are looking for a resourceful and motivated Business Affairs Executive to join an energetic and hard-working Contracts Department on a global scale. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with solid contractual experience who is eager to broaden their contracts and royalties knowledge and take on greater responsibility.  Royalties experience in the media industry would be advantageous.

The Role

  • Drafting and reviewing contracts for authors and illustrators
  • Working closely with Agents to answer queries and provide advice
  • Providing paperwork and contractual support for divisions within the Bright Agency – including Children’s, Licensing, Advertising, Editorial both in the UK and internationally.
  • Liaising and cooperating with departments across the company
  • Maintaining an accurate record of contracts progress in an efficient manner

Royalties

  • Process royalty statements
  • Check statements against contracts ensuring royalty rates are correct and received in the correct currency, check that contracts are set up correctly
  • Input royalty statements received
  • Follow up missing reporting periods and payments or queries in publishers’ accounting

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of royalty income and contracts with authors and licensees
  • Royalties experience in the media industry preferred
  • Rights and Permissions experience (including Foreign Rights) in media industry preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and organisational ability
  • Fast and accurate, highly numerate, strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, motivated, inquiring and flexible, able to show initiative and work independently
  • Experience of drafting, reviewing contracts and addenda
  • Foundational knowledge of digital rights and standard contractual terms
  • Excellent eye for detail and a high level of organisation
  • Basic understanding of contract law
  • Ability to work independently and provide support for Contracts Department
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and handle queries efficiently

More information:

The role is a full time, permanent position. Our offices are based in Clapham Junction, South London, and you will bee required to attend meetings in the office one day a week along with other ad hoc Company events.

Salary is £35k-£40k dependent upon experience.
