The role
The Journals Development Editor’s role is to manage the day-to-day publishing and development of Bristol University Press’ journals. They will also work with the Journals Manager on launching new journal products and assist with the commissioning process for growing the list.
What will you be doing?
You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Editors, Editorial Board members and other stakeholders, providing expert advice and support on a wide range of journal publishing issues, such as optimal use of our editorial management system, attracting high quality content, increasing citations and other metrics, ethical issues, copyright, effective marketing, open access and publication schedules.
Writing and presenting reports for journal board meetings, issuing contracts, carrying out content and journal level promotion and analysing performance data are all key to this role and you will also be involved in setting up and launching new journals.
You should apply if
You have significant experience of managing a list of academic journals and of supporting the commissioning and launching of new journals and are looking to join a friendly team. You will have specialist knowledge of journal publishing processes and systems and of the general issues affecting journal publishing right now. Self-motivated, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, you will be used to taking the initiative and solving problems.
